Industry Experts on Federal Tech Trends to Watch 2019 - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Several industry experts have cited technology platforms and trends they expect to play a role in the federal government in 2019, Federal News Network reported Monday.

Dave McClure, director of CIO advisory at Accenture Federal Services, said he expects a shift towards the adoption of hybrid cloud architectures and proactive cybersecurity measures and that agencies will improve their contact center strategies driven by artificial intelligence and increasing citizen expectations.

“I also see the emergence of digital platforms as being a way to drive quicker wins at low costs across large swaths of application modernization efforts,” McClure added.

Dave Powner, director of strategic engagement and partnerships for Mitre, said he believes lawmakers would take part in efforts to identify challenges to AI adoption.

He noted that initiatives to build up supply chain security and resilience will continue this year.

McClure and Powner mentioned federal agencies and congressional committees they expect to have an impact on the federal tech market in 2019.

Other industry executives who shared their federal tech expectations this year include Rich Beutel, managing principal for Cyrrus Analytics; Alan Chvotkin, executive vice president and counsel for the Professional Services Council; Mike Hettinger, managing principal of the Hettinger Strategy Group; and Trey Hodgkins, senior vice president of public sector at the Information Technology Alliance for Public Sector.
