Honeywell will support modernization of building control systems at a U.S. Air Force installation in South Korea through a $28M infrastructure upgrade project to be funded under a 25-year energy savings performance contract.
The company said Wednesday it will update Kunsan Air Base’s water, lighting and temperature management systems as well as install new equipment in efforts to help USAF meet energy efficiency goals.
USAF aims to reduce power consumption by at least 18 percent and water consumption by more than 7 percent.
Honeywell estimates the project, scheduled for November 2020 completion, will save the military service $1.7MÂ each year.
The company will leverage its Enterprise Buildings Integrator platform to link the military installation’s building systems and centralize monitoring and control functions.
The Air Force Civil Engineer Center and the Defense Logistics Agency-Energy jointly awarded the project.
