GrammaTech has landed a potential four-year, $8.4M contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to create a platform intended to perform autonomous and rapid deployment of protected configurations for commercial off-the-shelf equipment.
The company said Tuesday it will utilize offerings from Assured Information Security and LGS Innovations as well as a binary analysis tool to develop a suite that will assess documentation, implementation and other system artefacts to mitigate potential vulnerabilities and attacks through secure configurations.
“Seemingly benign minor configuration missteps, such as exposing unneeded services or keeping factory-set access credentials, can quickly add up to serious security breaches in complex networked systems, as the past has proven,” said Mark Hermeling, senior director of product marketing at GrammaTech.
Hermeling added that the project also aims to lower user error instances in system configuration processes.
GrammaTech offers software-assurance platforms and services to help commercial and government customers shield mission-critical devices from cyber attacks and system failure.
