General Dynamics' ordnance and tactical systems business has partnered with True Velocity to develop a rifle technology in support of the U.S. Army's M4 and M249 weapon replacement efforts.
True Velocity said Tuesday it will provide a composite-cased ammunition for GD-OTS' offering to the the Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle program, which seeks to boost gun lethality, firepower and accuracy features.
The ammunition is designed to help increase a weapon's firing accuracy, lower thermal imprints and wear and tear risks.
General Dynamics is among the four companies selected in July 2018 to produce automatic rifle prototypes through one-year other transaction agreements. The Army expects NGSAR competitors to complete their prototypes before the end of this year.
