Envistacom has received subcontract from Consortium Management Group to develop prototypes of an updated tactical satellite communications terminal for the U.S. Army under an other transaction agreement.
The company said Tuesday it will help modernize the Phoenix satcom device that allows expeditionary signal battalions to transmit operational, intelligence, administrative and logistical data for networked battle command and control missions.
The prototyping project seeks to complete the development process in just 18 months, as well as test and certification efforts in collaboration with the Army’s Project Manager for Tactical Network.
As part of the subagreement, Envistacom’s cybersecurity group will partner with industry partners and government sponsors to integrate cyber defense methods and security measures intended to protect updated the Phoenix system against threats.
