The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has begun to solicit research proposals on high-performance leading edges for use in the production of hypersonic aircraft platforms.
DARPA said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Monday it seeks to demonstrate new thermal management designs and components through the Materials Architectures and Characterization for Hypersonics program.
The agency noted that MACH program will occur in two phases over a four-year period. Phase 1 will focus on the development of representative parts within 27 months for government-sponsored ground testing.
The second phase is for 21 months of work covering the maturation, validation and manufacturability studies of components developed in the first stage.
Interested vendors have until April 11 to submit technical strategies and plans to address all program objectives, deliverables and metrics.
DARPA expects to award multiple contracts based on the quality of proposals and fund availability.
