Cubic is close to completing renovation and modernization efforts at a San Diego-based manufacturing facility for systems designed to prepare military customers for air combat missions.

The company said Friday the updated facility will house production and test activities for ground subsystems, pods and other components of live, virtual and constructive training platforms.

“We are thrilled with the latest enhancements to our manufacturing facility and look forward to strengthening and increasing the production of our new secure LVC pods here in San Diego,” said Mike Knowles, president of Cubic's global defense segment.

Knowles added the company's air ranges team has worked to develop technologies as part of efforts to demonstrate the potential of integrating virtual and constructive mechanisms into a live aircraft cockpit.

Cubic is preparing its facilities to assemble and test new LVC pods following participation in the U.S. Air Force's Secure LVC Advanced Training Environment program.

The company has provided more than 5K pods for integration onto 40 aircraft platforms worldwide.
