CenturyLink’s David Young on Gov’t Shutdown, EIS Telecom Contract Transition - top government contractors - best government contracting event

David Young, senior vice president of strategic government at CenturyLink, has said he believes a delay in agencies’ issuance of solicitations under the $50B Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract for telecommunications services due to the partial government shutdown does not affect the transition goal for the EIS vehicle, FCW reported Thursday.

In December, the General Services Administration decided to extend until 2023 existing telecom support contracts, which are set to expire in 2020, to provide agencies enough time to transition to the EIS vehicle.

Young, a 2019 Wash100 winner, told FCW that he believes the shutdown will come to an end and that the company expects to see a “tsunami” of solicitations in the coming months.

He added that the firm continues to hire employees to support EIS-related work, according to the report.

CenturyLink is one of the companies that won spots on GSA’s EIS contract vehicle awarded in 2017.
