Avaya has introduced a location reporting technology designed to help first responders receive data about the position of a caller’s device in the event of a critical situation.
The company said Tuesday it has incorporated the feature into communications platforms built to operate with a Next Generation 911 repository to support emergency management efforts and allow personnel to secure additional information from calls performed with Avaya phone systems.
The tool will allow company-made platforms to transmit critical information to public-safety answering points that work to query the NG911 database.
“In situations where every second counts, seamless communication and the sharing of high-fidelity data can make the difference between life and death,†said Mark Fletcher, emergency nurse practitioner and chief architect for worldwide public safety solutions at Avaya.
The company also developed a cloud notification system equipped with text and voice functions that work to provide automatic notifications and emergency alerts.
