Rocket Lab Sends NASA Small Research Satellites Into Orbit - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Rocket Lab launched 10 cubesats into space on Sunday morning as part of its Venture Class Launch Services agreement with NASA.

The company said Sunday its Electron rocket lifted off with the small research satellites at 1:33 a.m. Eastern time in Mahia Peninsula, New Zealand.

Three NASA centers, one middle school and seven universities built the cubesats through the Educational Launch of Nanosatellite XIX initiative, the agency said Friday.

One of the payloads was the Advanced eLectrical Bus technology from the Glenn Research Center and aims to demonstrate the digitally controlled electrical power system in the deployment of solar arrays and antennas.

West Virginia University and NASA jointly developed the Simulation To Flight payload to support the development-flight transition of cubesat missions.

SRI International collaborated with California Polytechnic State University to build the Ionospheric Scintillation Explorer with the intent to examine sunset-produced, multi-frequency radio wave interference.
