PAE ISR has selected a Persistent Systems-built radio for its Resolute Eagle unmanned aircraft system.

The MPU5 radio has the Wave Relay mobile ad hoc network technology and is designed to run video, voice-over-internet-protocols and other applications, PAE ISR said Tuesday.

The radio also uses an algorithm that helps users integrate several meshed devices into the network to facilitate communications.

“We have customers that require the MPU5 and this will allow Resolute Eagle to operate seamlessly within their existing architecture,” Chris Corgnati, a senior vice president and client executive at PAE ISR, told ExecutiveBiz.

Corgnati added that MPU5 Wave Relay is already fielded on various ground, aerial and maritime platforms and will make Resolute Eagle a “multi-domain force multiplier” and enable the drone to provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support to end users.

“The MPU5’s unique ability to rapidly change C, L, and S bands by swapping the Interchangeable Frequency Modules paired with the Resolute Eagle’s large multi-intelligence payload capacity makes this a game changing capability,” said Jake Jacobs, chief technology officer at PAE ISR.

Resolute Eagle UAS comes in vertical take-off and landing and standard configurations and is designed to fly for more than 18 hours and carry payloads weighing over 75 pounds.
