The U.S. Navy‘s Naval Air Systems Command is looking for potential industry sources of C-40 transport aircraft that would be assigned to the U.S. Marine Corps.
NAVAIR said Tuesday in a FedBizOpps notice Marines aim to procure two units of C-40, a military variant of Boeing‘s 737-700C commercial airliner, along with training and life cycle sustainment support services by August 2010.
USMC wants the aircraft to have a main cabin configurable for passengers or palletized cargo and be compatible with the Navy’s C-40A platform.
The sought non-developmental transport vehicle should also hold Federal Aviation Administration certification and feature avionics systems that comply with airborne communication, surveillance and navigation standards set forth by FAA and the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Interested parties can submit input through Dec. 18.
