Iron Mountain-QualX-TDEC Team to Help Army War College Digitize Military Records - top government contractors - best government contracting eventA team composed of Iron Mountain, QualX and TDEC will provide records digitization and preservation services to the U.S. Army War College’s Heritage and Education Center under a potential five-year, $30M contract.

The three companies will help USAHEC process, move and store a collection of the military branch’s artifacts, manuscripts, photographs and audio-visual items in a digital repository, Iron Mountain said Tuesday.

Archival materials include nearly 33M indexed images illustrating the country’s armed forces history.

Iron Mountain noted it will transport the records from its current storage in Carlisle, Pa., to a company-run facility in Jessup, Md., then will collaborate with QualX to convert 24K linear feet of unclassified documents.

TDEC will then gather and maintain quality of metadata from the archival collections with an optical character recognition tool for the PDF document scanning process.

The contract contains a one-year base period of performance and four one-year options.
