Harris Secures $108M Nevada Network Modernization Support Contract; Nino DiCosmo Quoted

Harris has received a $108M contract from the state of Nevada to provide communications systems for a statewide digital network that will support 90 agencies comprising more than 16K users.

The Nevada Shared Radio System effort aims to transfer operations from a Harris EDACS system to a P25 Phase 2 network that will aid communication between utility workers, public safety personnel, law enforcement agencies and public works organizations, Harris said Wednesday.

The company will deliver an end-to-end and 126-site multicast/simulcast system that includes the BeOn mobile push-to-talk application, a Voice, Interoperability, Data and Access service platform, SymphonyTM command center dispatch consoles and XL-200P multiband P25 radios designed for full-spectrum LTE functions.

“This is truly a public-private partnership, and we look forward to providing the essential connectivity that will enable Nevada’s first responders to serve their communities,” said Nino DiCosmo, president of Harris’ Public Safety and Professional Communications arm.

DiCosmo noted that the contract extends a more than 20-year partnership with NSRS.

Harris’ Public Safety and Professional Communications unit supports more than 500 systems worldwide and has provided communications systems to the public and private sectors for over 80 years.
