The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced that it will stop existing contracts due to a lapse in appropriations.
FEMA said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Wednesday that companies whose contracts are included in the non-exempt list are advised to immediately stop contract work.
“Any work done after receipt of this notice is at your own risk and will not be reimbursed,†Bobby McCane, head of contracting activity at FEMA, wrote in the notice.
“Do not resume work until provided a written cancellation of a stop work order by a warranted contracting officer.â€
Companies should also issue stop-work orders to subcontractors on the affected contracts.
FEMA noted that invoice payments associated with the contracts may be delayed due to the funding uncertainty and that it will notify the companies once appropriations become available.
