The Department of Transportation will launch the second round of a grant program that seeks to allocate up to $902.5M in federal funds for large and small infrastructure projects nationwide in fiscal year 2019.
DOT said Friday it plans to award at least $25M each to large projects and at least $5M each to small projects through the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America initiative.
The INFRA program seeks to incorporate new technology into the transportation system and encourage investments from state, local, and private-sector entities.
Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said the government is committed to modernizing infrastructure assets across the country.
Eligible projects include reconstruction, rehabilitation, property acquisition, environmental mitigation, construction contingency, equipment acquisition and operational improvement efforts.
Interested parties can submit proposals until March 4.
DOT awarded a total of nearly $1.5B to 26 projects via the grant program during 2018.
