A Center for Digital Government survey of more than 170 public-sector information technology professionals showed that four key factors affect cloud transition efforts at state and local agencies.
CDG found that many agency IT leaders reported have trouble figuring out how much their agencies will save when they use cloud services, according to an Amazon Web Services blog entry posted Monday.
More than one-third of respondents displayed a lack of understanding or appreciation in cloud security controls and nearly 40 percent said they believe current legacy systems prevent their agencies from adopting the technology faster.
Thirty-three percent of agency IT professionals surveyed reported insufficient cloud deployment expertise among their teams.
The center published a paper meant to address common misconceptions about the technology.
