Boeing and Lockheed Martin‘s Sikorsky subsidiary have unveiled a helicopter platform the industry team has built for a U.S. Army technology demonstrator effort.
SB>1 Defiant will take part in the military service’s Joint Multi-Role Tech Demo and is designed to operate twice the range and speed of traditional helicopters, Boeing said Wednesday.
The Army plans to collect and use data from its JMR-TD program to craft requirements for planned utility helicopters under the Future Vertical Lift initiative.
The service branch aims to launch a new vertical lift fleet by the early 2030s.
