The U.S. Air Force has chosen Ball Aerospace to develop an open-source framework for the Space and Missile Systems Center to process satellite-based intelligence data about foreign missile threats.
Ball Aerospace said Tuesday USAF plans to use the Mission Data Processing Application Framework as a data collection testbed under the Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution initiative, the company said Tuesday.
MDPAF will support Overhead Persistent InfraRed satellites designed to provide missile launch warnings to the military service.
Steve Smith, vice president and general manager of Ball Aerospace’s systems engineering solutions business, said the company will implement a DevSecOps methodology that includes a security approach and apply experience in the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency‘s Hallmark program to address SMC requirements.
Ball Aerospace has created a framework that allows third-party developers to utilize the company’s DevOps pipeline without requiring additional integration work.
