Army, Marines to Receive Oshkosh-Built Joint Light Tactical Vehicles in Early 2019 - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe U.S. Army and Marine Corps are set to deploy the first batch of Oshkosh-built Joint Light Tactical Vehicles to replace aging High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles.

The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Ga., will be the first unit to receive the JLTVs in early January, the Army said Thursday.

The unit expects to get nearly 500 vehicles by end of March.

Oshkosh won a potential $6.7B contract in 2015 to build the armored vehicles for the Army and Marines. Work started in fiscal year 2016 and the service branches expect to receive all JLTVs by fiscal year 2022.

Last month, the Army ordered additional JLTVs and associated kits worth $1.69B under a contract modification.

The service noted it expects the program to remain on schedule and on budget as through the completion of the low-rate initial production phase.
