Boundless has obtained certification from the U.S. Army for a desktop-based geographic information system that works to help users create maps and manage geospatial data.
The military service issued a Certificate of Networthiness to the Boundless Desktop platform to affirm the software’s potential to help warfighters obtain battlespace awareness, the company said Tuesday.
Desktop is designed to generate common operating pictures and analyze routes, locations and geospatial intelligence operations.
The platform offers access to multiple open source formats intended to facilitate sharing of data and products.
Boundless CEO Andy Dearing, said the CoN accreditation indicates that the federal agencies can use the company’s GIS technology.
Jason Lee Smith, security specialist for the Army’s Counter Explosive Hazards Center at Fort Leonard Wood, said geospatial intelligence from the Desktop software will help the service branch make decisions about critical missions.
