The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority in California has implemented a Salesforce-powered unified payment system for local commuters to pay for travel through a single digital hub.
Publicis.Sapient helped LA Metro architect and launch the TAPforce on the Salesforce Platform to serve as a “one-stop shop” for payment transactions and program registrations across multiple account-based transport options throughout the region, Salesforce said Wednesday.
TAPforce is built to help travelers view ride history, order new cards and add funds to their accounts or cards. The system also supports PayPal or “Pay Near Me,” which permits passengers to load their TAP accounts at retail stories.
The agency plans to introduce next year the TAP mobile app and more payment options such as Apple Pay and Android Pay.
“As the world becomes more connected, cities, counties, regions and their underlying infrastructure needs to innovate if they are to stay relevant and impactful,†said Dave Rey, executive vice president of Salesforce’s North American public sector business.
Rey added that LA Metro aims to transform the region’s public transportation system with the new payment system.
