SAIC Wins CGP Excellence in Partnership Award for Veteran Employment Efforts - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Coalition for Government Procurement has selected Science Applications International Corp. for the Excellence in Partnership Award for Veteran’s Employment.

SAIC said Tuesday CGP recognized the Reston, Va.-based defense firm for its efforts to launch and operate a veteran program for its employees.

The company established its Military/Veterans Business Resource Group in April 2017 in order to provide support as well as mentoring and networking benefits to veterans, military personnel and their families.

The employee-run M/VBRG operates under SAIC Chief Human Resources Officer Karen Wheeler and consists of over 300 members in 10 SAIC-sponsored chapters throughout the U.S.

Wheeler said veterans account for 25 percent of the company’s workforce, and SAIC is proud to be a destination for veterans who want to transition to a long-term career.

The M/VBRG unit is an interest-based business resource group under SAIC’s MOSAIC diversity program.

The EIP Awards honors members of the acquisition community that have contributed significant changes to the government procurement industry.
