Raytheon has received a $37.2M contract modification to continue intermediate-level repair and maintenance services for the U.S. Navy’s Standard Missile-2 and Standard Missile-6 systems.
The Navy will obligate $19M in fiscal 2019 operations and maintenance funds at the time of award, the Defense Department said Monday.
The company’s missile systems business will perform work in Arizona, Arkansas and Alabama through November of next year.
The modification is part of a potential $227.7M contract Raytheon received early this year to maintain, repair and ensure recertification of SM-2 and SM-6 missiles through FY 2022.
The contract includes options for the company to provide SM-2 support services to Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, South Korea, Spain and Taiwan.
SM-2 is an anti-air warfare and anti-surface warfare weapon designed to counter anti-ship missiles and aircraft within 90 nautical miles and at an altitude of 65,000 feet.
SM-6 is designed for anti-air warfare, anti-surface warfare and sea-based terminal ballistic missile defense and works to deter manned and unmanned aircraft, land-attack anti-ship cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and targets on the ocean’s surface.
