Northrop Grumman has received a $59.1M contract to perform engineering, manufacturing and development work on next-generation navigation systems for the U.S. Air Force.
The company will aim to complete the EMD phase of the Embedded Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System-Modernization program by Sept. 30 of next year, the Defense Department said Thursday.
The Air Force is obligating $28.9M in fiscal 2018 and fiscal 2019 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.
Northrop has supported EGI-M technology maturation and risk reduction efforts under a $49M contract awarded last year.
The company received a separate $60.6M modification that would increase the ceiling value and extend the scope of an existing indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for INS support services.
DoD said this award involves foreign military sales and includes platform integration, modernization, flight test, training, depot repair and engineering work.
The IDIQ contract has a $260.6M cumulative face value.
