Veterans 1st Lt. Victor Prato, retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Anthony Radetic and retired Sgt. 1st Class Randy Nantz have been awarded scholarships under Lockheed Martin‘s 2018 Fighting Spirit program.

The company said Monday its scholarship program, which it sponsored for the third consecutive year, provides wounded veterans with flying, sailing and competitive exercise training opportunities.

Lockheed administers the program in collaboration with nonprofits Warrior Sailing, Able Flight and the Adaptive Training Foundation.

Prato, who experienced a spinal cord injury due to a bombing in Afghanistan, will receive basic keelboat sailing certification after completing Warrior Sailing’s training programs.

Radetic, who underwent paralysis due to a motor vehicle accident while training in Alabama, will attend six weeks of flight lessons and receive certification as a licensed pilot at next year’s EAA AirVenture Oshkosh airshow.

Lastly, Nantz, an amputee who lost half of his left leg in Iraq, will undergo intensive athletic training and afterwards will travel to Lake Tahoe in Nevada for a skiing and snowboarding trip.

The three would also receive access to tour Lockheed’s F-35 production site and tickets for other trips and events.
