DARPA Requests Info on Distributed Consensus Protocols - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has asked industry to submit input on other potential applications of distributed consensus protocols that are widely used in cryptocurrency or blockchain technology.

A FedBizOpps notice posted Nov. 19 states that DARPA seeks methods to create large-scale permissionless distributed protocols without depending on currency transfers, economic-based security models for multiparty computation and approaches to analyze centralization of a consensus protocol.

DARPA will accept responses to the request for information through Dec. 20 and tentatively scheduled a two-day workshop from Feb. 14 to 15 in Arlington, Va., to discuss submissions from selected responders.

The agency said it aims to understand the implications of distributed consensus protocol technologies for the Defense Department’s data storage and computing tasks.
