Red Hat and NVIDIA have agreed to advance the use of open-source platforms to support artificial intelligence, data science and deep learning workloads in enterprise data centers.
Red Hat said Tuesday it secured certification to deploy its Enterprise Linux operating system and Kubernetes platform on NVIDIA DGX-1 hardware systems through the partnership.
The collaboration aims to help independent software vendors facilitate the migration of existing apps certified under Red Hat Enterprise Linux to NVIDIA’s hardware with minimum or no modifications.
Both companies also plan to collaborate on other open-source programs, such as the deployment of NVIDIA’s graphic processing unit cloud containers on Red Hat OpenShift platform and development of the heterogeneous memory management functionality.
Charles Onstott, chief technology officer of Science Applications International Corp., said SAIC has showed “agility and collaboration with rapid testing and integration of elements of the stack deployed on GPU to optimize the performance of our analytic engine†by leveraging the company’s partnership with NVIDIA and Red Hat as well as its Innovation Factory.
