Raytheon and the U.S. Army have updated a precision-guided projectile built to operate with multiple artillery systems and help warfighters engage targets in secluded locations.
Excalibur Shaped Trajectory is designed to reach a multistory facility via the building side, a bunker situated on a mountain slope’s opposite side or adversarial assets located under an overpass, Raytheon said Tuesday.
The Army tested the EST variant in August at Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona and is fielding the munition to troops.
Raytheon also developed Excalibur S, a version that the company said includes laser technology, and the sea-based Excalibur N5 model.
The company seeks to offer its EST projectile to U.S. allies through the Defense Department‘s foreign military sales program.
