The Missile Defense Agency intends to award a contract to an industry team led by Boeing to help MDA engineer and integrate the Ballistic Missile Defense System.
Boeing will lead five defense contractors, known collectively as National Team-Engineering, to continue the group’s BMDS engineering support work that covers system guidance, integration, development and data product delivery, according to a notice posted Thursday on FedBizOpps.
The Chicago-based company will serve as the prime contractor on the project and oversee the assimilation of technologies such as mobile and space sensors, homeland defense radars and hypersonic threat defense systems into the BMDS architecture.
BMDS modifications are necessary to address a joint emergent operational requirement of the U.S. Forces Korea and Missile Defense and Defeat Enhancement.
The proposed sole-source contract will have a three-year base period and two one-year options.
