Julia White, corporate vice president for Microsoft Azure, has said Microsoft will launch new Azure Government cloud regions by the end of the first quarter of 2019 to allow the Defense Department and intelligence agencies to manage Secret-level classified data.

White wrote in a blog post published Tuesday that the company plans to expand the capabilities of its Azure Government platform to help agencies handle Top Secret-level data workloads.

Microsoft has unveiled 50 cloud offerings certified at Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program Moderate level for public cloud regions with plans to transition those services to FedRAMP High by the end of 2018.

“This means Azure public regions in the continental United States will support FedRAMP High applications for U.S. Government agencies who are allowed by regulation to host their information in the public cloud this year,” White wrote.

The company has also previewed its Data Box line of offerings – Azure Data Box, Azure Data Box Edge and Azure Data Box Heavy – for government clients to help them facilitate data migration and analyze large data workloads.

White also cited the company’s cloud partnerships with SAP, Booz Allen Hamilton and L3 Technologies and the introduction of the Azure Reservations budgeting platform for Azure Government.
