Janus Removes ISIS-Planted Explosives at Technical Institute of Mosul - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Janus Global Operations has cleared the Technical Institute of Mosul in Iraq of various explosive devices planted by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

The company said Thursday it unearthed in five months 62 explosive hazards, 31 improvised explosive devices and 31 unexploded ordnance that ISIS hid in the school during the group’s two-year reign in Mosul.

Janus used soft-ground search techniques, explosive detection dogs and mechanical equipment to clear 140K square meters of ground and buildings at the technical institute.

The effort has enabled the school to rebuild its infrastructure to continue serving Iraqi students.

Janus began delivering explosive remediation services to the campus on Oct. 5, 2017 on behalf of the State Department’s Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement, and was able to complete the project on March 15, 2018.
