Two Huntington Ingalls Industries executives have been selected for Our Mississippi’s 2018 list of most influential African-American people in the state.
The publication honored Edmond Hughes, vice president of human resources and administration at HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division, and company board member Augustus Collins at an awards ceremony held Thursday at the Westin Hotel in Jackson, Miss., the company said said Friday.
Collins serves as CEO of career training services provider Minact and is a retired major general with more than 35 years of combined service at the U.S. Army and the Mississippi National Guard.
Hughes oversees Ingalls Shipbuilding’s employee recruitment, development and retention functions, as well as serves on the boards of the Gulf Coast Business Council, Alabama/Mississippi National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Jobs for Mississippi Graduates.
He worked as HR director at TRW before he joined the shipbuilder in 2006.
