FAA Selects Nine Firms to Participate in Drone Authorization Program - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Federal Aviation Administration has selected nine companies to support a program that delivers authorizations in real time to drone operators seeking to fly their unmanned aircraft systems in controlled airspace.

The agency said Monday the new partners under the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability effort are permitted to process drone flying applications.

The new LAANC service providers are:

  • Aeronyde
  • Airbus
  • AiRXOS
  • Altitude Angel
  • Converge
  • DJI
  • KittyHawk
  • UASidekick
  • Unifly

The nine companies join pioneer LAANC service providers AirMap, Harris, Project Wing, Skyward and Thales in the drone authorization program.

In 2019, the FAA plans to recruit more LAANC service providers from Jan. 7 to Feb. 8 and from July 8 to Aug. 9.
