The Energy Department intends to release a joint solicitation notice in November for two programs that aim to create energy-efficiency systems for manufacturing and material development processes.
DOE said Wednesday in a FedBizOpps notice it will award up to $300K to U.S. manufacturers to conduct energy innovation projects through the department’s High Performance Computing for Manufacturing and High Performance Computing for Materials programs.
The department seeks industry partners to collaborate with national labs to address challenges in manufacturing and new materials development.
Selected teams will aim to apply simulation, data analysis and modeling approaches to increase energy efficiency and productivity, implement next-generation technology, test algorithms, examine processes and reduce cycle time.
An industry participant must contribute funds equivalent to at least 20 percent of DOE’s funding allocation for a project that the department expects to last for one year.
