David Brown, a 35-year nuclear operations veteran, has been appointed president of a joint venture between BWX Technologies‘ technical services group and Aptim‘s federal services unit.
He will lead the BWSR business that currently supports decommissioning, demolition and operations at multiple Naval Nuclear Laboratory sites through a contract with Fluor, BWXT said Tuesday.
Brown previously served as director of BWXT’s $238M project with the Energy Department to deactivate the Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon, Ohio.
He spent 11 years as a U.S. Navy nuclear submarine officer before he managed various nuclear decommissioning and waste management efforts for the DOE and several commercial clients worldwide.
BWSR is currently on the final year of a two-year, $140M contract extension from Fluor’s marine propulsion business.
