Department 13 International and XiDrone Systems have teamed up to pursue intellectual property development related to counter-unmanned aerial systems, wireless communications and autonomous platforms.
The partnership will provide patents rights to D13 to integrate its MESMER counter-UAS system with radar, electro-optical/infrared, radio frequency, acoustics and other sensors to build a platform designed to mitigate commercial drone-related threats, the companies said in a joint statement published Wednesday.
XiDrone and D13 will also collaborate with other C-UAS manufacturers to facilitate the deployment of a counter-drone platform.
Dwaine Parker, president of XiDrone, said D13’s IP portfolio fits the company’s technology and would help advance the development of new systems for the counter-UAS sector and the Federal Aviation Administration’s UAS Traffic Management project.
XiDrone will get an upfront fee related to the exclusive licensing of its patents and royalties associated with sublicensing revenues and product sales under the exclusive partnership.
