Employees continue to click on malicious links amid government agencies’ efforts to launch training programs and assessments as part of their cyber defense strategies, Government Technology magazine reported.
A study by the Federal Information Systems Security Educators’ Association shows that 34 percent of cyber breaches are associated with negligence or human error.
The report said agencies should supplement cyber training with a specific approach by discussing with employees their responsibilities and consequences of clicking on suspicious links.
“We have to explain to them how important this is to them personally, to their specific piece of work,†said Mark Testoni, president and CEO of SAP National Security Services.
“It’s not just about somebody getting into our system. How does this affect your job, your pocketbook, your ability to succeed?,†he added.
