Dan Kent, chief technology officer of Cisco‘s public sector business, has estimated that organizations will migrate 75 percent of data into cloud infrastructure over time, Federal Times reported Saturday.
Kent said at federal cloud event held Wednesday he predicts cloud providers will look to help government customers transfer multipurpose information technology applications.
“You’re not going to find many application developers not creating to the cloud, so all your applications that you can buy as a consumer will be delivered in the cloud whether you like it or not,” Kent added.
The report noted federal agencies have traditionally factored the criticality of information and have cited security as a top concern when migrating to the cloud.
Last month, the Office of Management and Budget offered a path forward for government organizations to adopt the technology through the Cloud Smart Strategy.
