CAE has unveiled a new technology platform for military clients to train fighter and fast jet pilots in simulated environments.

The Medallion MR e-Series Visual System features a 360-degree dome display, laser projectors, image generators, night-vision goggles and a support system for the Open Geospatial Consortium’s common database, CAE said Tuesday.

The system is designed to help aircrew learn how to conduct formation and low-level flights, air-to-air refueling missions and target identification tasks.

Gene Colabatistto, president of CAE’s defense and security group, said the Medallion MR e-Series launch is an example of the company listening to customer needs and investing in internal research-and-development efforts to build a military aircraft training product.

The company developed the virtual trainer as part of its mission reality training equipment portfolio that also includes the Simfinity ground school desktop, procedures trainers, fixed-base flight training devices and full-mission simulators.
