A CA Technologies-sponsored study has found that 98 percent of organizations are using automated systems to drive growth in their businesses and complete strategic tasks.
The Enterprise Management Associates-led report named “The State of Automation†unveiled that the retail industry showed the highest level of maturity in adopting automation at 70 percent, followed by the manufacturing sector at 35 percent, CA said Thursday.
The study also found that a majority of the respondents believe that artificial intelligence and machine learning can help increase the value of automation for their businesses, as well as leverage historical data to boost decision-making processes and overall knowledge.
“As companies continue to embrace AI and automation, it’s imperative that different industries and departments understand their respective priorities and bottlenecks in adopting and implementing these technologies,†said Dan Twing, president and chief operating officer at EMA.
The research additionally found that the use of robotic process automation for business processes is low despite 88 percent of the respondents saying that they have or will adopt RPA plans.
Thirty-five percent of the study population disclosed that AI will fuel the demand for RPA bots.
EMA conducted the CA-sponsored online study over the course of a month, participated in by a little over 1K respondents that comprise information technology and business executives hailing from the U.S., U.K., France and Germany.
