Boeing Subsidiary to Help CENTCOM Monitor Logistics Operations in Middle East - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Boeing’s Tapestry Solutions subsidiary will deliver an in-transit visibility system to the U.S. Central Command to help monitor the ground-based deployment of military assets throughout different countries in the Middle East.

The Global Distribution Management System will support CENTCOM in tracking the logistics operations of contractors in Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Jordan for the U.S. Army, Boeing said Monday.

The asset tracking platform will also provide CENTCOM with a radio frequency ITV system and a common operational picture of Army equipment and supplies being delivered to various military teams and operational centers.

The agreement is a continuation of Tapestry’s GDMS/ITV initiatives in Afghanistan, some of which were launched in 2009.

Michael Spencer, vice president of global sales and marketing at Tapestry Solutions, said under the new contract, the company will work to provide the same level of logistics service in Afghanistan to other Middle Eastern nations.

GDMS is designed to combine data collected from cargo movements with those from global positioning system-based transponders on vehicles to allow users to track their assets in near-real time.

Other features included in the system are panic alarms/alerts, topographical maps and instant replay functions to facilitate course-of-action analysis.
