The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a $45M contract modification to support integration and technical work on airborne guidance kits designed to guide free-falling bombs into the target area.
Boeing will conduct studies, analysis, modernization and integration efforts for the Joint Direct Attack Munition system at a company facility in Missouri through March 31, 2019.
The Air Force will not obligate funds at the time of award.
JDAMs contain inertial navigation and global positioning systems designed to allow bombs reach targets from a long distance.
