Diane Dempsey, director of small business programs at BAE Systems‘ U.S. arm, accepted the 2018 Chairman’s Award for Minority Supplier Development Leader of the Year from the Capital Region Minority Supplier Development Council at a ceremony held last week in National Harbor, Md.
Dempsey said in a statement released Friday the company partners with businesses that can offer technical services to help address customers’ mission requirements.
Ten percent of subcontracts that BAE awarded during 2017 went to disadvantaged small businesses, which surpassed the 5 percent subcontracting targets established by the Small Business Administration and the Defense Department.
CRMSDC operates in the Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. areas and is among the 23 affiliate councils of the National Minority Supplier Council.
BAE has been a corporate member of the council for over 12 years.
