A new Accenture survey says citizens have offered thousands of recommendations or “life hacks for government” in order for U.S. agencies to speed up the delivery of services.
The company said Thursday it commissioned McGuire Research to conduct an online poll of 5,000 individuals across 10 major cities in September about ways the U.S. government should implement to improve the citizens’ quality of life.
One of the “GovHacks†suggestions is the need for the government to streamline public services through digital innovation such as the deployment of digitized government forms and online services as well as the creation of a single ID.
“Leaders in the public sector can embrace citizen calls for greater digital engagement and work with citizens in new ways to streamline services and exceed their expectations,†said Ryan Oakes, head of Accenture’s public sector practice in North America.
Other suggestions include the use of police scanners to identify individuals who are texting while driving; direct call back to the same representative to facilitate the resolution of issues; cameras that capture license plates to facilitate toll fee collections via linked bank accounts; and a master list of government programs.
