The White House will administer a meeting with several government, commercial and academic entities to discuss ways to apply quantum computing technology in national security missions, Reuters reported Monday.
AT&T, Intel, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Honeywell International are expected to participate in the forum.
Jake Taylor, assistant director for quantum information science at the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, said the Trump administration is set to unveil a national strategy Monday to advance technology development efforts in that area.
The initiative comes after House lawmakers passed a bill to establish the National Quantum Coordination Office at OSTP.
The White House noted in a memo that such computing technology can help researchers examine chemical reactions and characteristics of new materials, as well as further study the universe and spacetime.
