Smiths Detection has received a $70M order from the Transportation Security Administration to deploy computerized tomography imaging systems to airports nationwide.
The company said Friday it will provide CTX 9800 systems through 2019 in an effort to help TSA personnel detect and identify explosives in luggage content.
The baggage screening platform is designed with 3D CT technology and certified by the TSA and the European Civil Aviation Conference.
TSA will use the scanners at LaGuardia Airport in New York City Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and other airports located in California, Pennsylvania, Florida, Washington and Minnesota.
