The General Services Administration has tapped Spear and LexisNexis Risk Solutions to provide identity verification and fraud detection offerings to expand and secure public access to government websites.
Under GSA’s Identity Proofing Initiative, the two companies will work to protect access to Login.gov, which is a website that allows civilians to communicate with various government agencies regarding federal benefits, services and applications, among other things, LexisNexis‘ subsidiary said Wednesday.
Spear will offer infrastructure, program deployment, integration, and customer and technical support services, while LexisNexis will provide its Public Records data.
“Consolidating security and operations under a single managed service through Login.gov eliminates the cost and burden of having each agency doing identity proofing and fraud detection themselves,†said Haywood Talcove, CEO of LexisNexis Risk Solutions’ government strategic business.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation discovered that in 2015, 70M people had invisible, unbanked or underbanked credit histories, hindering Login.gov to detect their identities.
Javelin Strategy & Research also found that 16.7M Americans are victims of identity fraud solely in 2017.
