Rockwell Collins has received Type-1 certification from the National Security Agency for a ground radio technology designed to facilitate military communications.
NSA validated the potential of AN/PRC-162(V)1 RT 20-48(C)U radios to help U.S. armed forces transmit and secure classified data including top-secret information, Rockwell Collins said Wednesday.
Troy Brunk, vice president and general manager of communication, navigation and electronic warfare solutions at Rockwell Collins, said the company developed its technology for military users to obtain situational awareness during missions.
AN/PRC-162 is designed with an open architecture and built to operate with multiple legacy waveforms and the Defense Department‘s Mobile User Objective System.
The radio belongs to the company’s TruNet communications product line composed of air and ground communication systems, networking waveforms and service offerings meant to support transmission of data, voice, video and images in real time.
