Maximus has received a potential $65M contract to help the California Public Utilities Commission administer a government assistance program that offers discounted home and cell phone services to eligible households throughout the state.
The company said Monday it will support the web-based enrollment process, determine eligibility of a household, manage documents and provide call center services for California’s Lifeline Program.
Bruce Caswell, president and CEO of Maximus, said the company aims to help state residents access phone service options through its partnership with CPUC.
The contract was awarded by the California Department of Technology after a competitive solicitation and has a $36M base value over 2.5 years along with two one-year options.
Maximus noted it expects to commence operations as the LifeLine administrator in January.
